Between the 24th and 28th of March, thirty-two young people and group leaders from 6 European countries participated in Wermsdorf (Germany) in the international youth mobility activity “ERASMUS+ Youth Exchange 2025”, led by ENPP and financed through the Portuguese National Agency “ERASMUS+/Juventude em Ação”.
The choice of Wermsdorf to hold this international youth mobility event is in line with the policy of decentralizing these activities across ENPP member locations, since it is in this German city that Hubertusburg Castle is located, the scene of the signing on 15 February 1763 of the Peace Treaty that ended the well-known Seven Years’ War.
On the morning of the first day of this event, the participants were welcomed at the headquarters of the Municipality of Wermsdorf by the Mayor, Mr. Matthias Muller, who introduced them to the main aspects of life in this German city and then took a short guided tour of the city’s two main monuments: Altes Jagdschloss and Hubertusburg Schloss, led by Mr. Ulf Müller, from the Hubertusburg Castle Friendship Association, a founding member of ENPP.
On Wednesday morning, participants also had the opportunity to visit Altranstädt Castle, the site of the signing of the important Treaty of Altranstädt (1706) and Convention of Altranstädt (1707) where they were welcomed by several members of the Association for the Promotion of this Castle, also a founding member of ENPP.
During the first 4 days of their stay in Wermsdorf, the young people discussed various topics related to the Culture of Peace, Human Rights and European Citizenship, either together or in multinational groups. They presented the conclusions of these debates and gave presentations prepared by them about their countries and the Peace Treaties signed in their places of origin, as well as producing graphic materials on the theme of Peace. The last day of the event was dedicated to the online preparation of the general conclusions of the activity and to filling in the Youthpass. At the end of the day, the young people had the opportunity to spend time with some young Germans who had participated in previous youth mobility activities organized by ENPP.
Young people from Portugal, Germany, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Ukraine participated in the event, as well as, for the first time, a group of young Polish, students of International Relations at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.
The event was also supported by the Hubertusburg Castle Friendship Association led by its Chairman of the Board, Mr. Olav Praetsch.
