6 entities, members of ENPP, and 1 partner entity submitted the “Places of Peace” application consisting of 7 sites associated with the signing of Peace Treaties and active in disseminating a Culture of Peace, located in 6 Member States of the European Union, to the European Heritage Label (2025 assessment period).
European Heritage Label (EHL) awards to sites for their symbolic value, the role they have played in European history and the activities they offer. These sites bring the European Union and its citizens closer together.
European Heritage sites are milestones in the creation of today’s Europe. Spreading from the dawn of civilization to the Europe we see today, these sites celebrate and simplify European ideals, values, history and integration.
The application submitted in Croatia is characterized by a great geographical, cultural and architectural diversity, including palaces, castles, parks and civil and religious buildings of different styles and periods, whose managing bodies have a strategy for the conservation of the intangible cultural heritage associated with them, combined with the active promotion of its main outcome: peace.
The sites that are part of the application are:
St. Francis Monastery (Zadar, Croatia); Park of the Historical Fountain of Kaynardzha (Kaynardzha, Bulgaria), Paço dos Henriques (Alcáçovas, Portugal), Convention House of Evoramonte (Evoramonte, Portugal), Convento de San Francisco/Historical Complex of Alcañices (Alcañices, Spain), House of Peace (Vasvár, Hungary) and Trencin Castle (Trencin, Slovakia).
